The Peak District National Park is an area of beautiful, tranquil, green countryside which covers parts of South and West Yorkshire. The landscape is covered with grasses, heather and bilberry bushes. Numerous historic villages and remnants of ancient settlements from as long ago as prehistoric times can still be seen and offer places of interest to the many visitors who are fascinated by its history. Cresswell Crags has long been of interest to historians and there have been pieces of rock and stones from prehistoric times, as well as some artefacts uncovered in the caves there. This is also an area well visited by climbers and walkers.

There are still some reminders that there was once a great deal of industry and agriculture around the area and some remnants of the woollen industry, cotton industry, and coal mining can be seen around the outskirts of the National Park for example at Penistone, Holmfirth and Stocksbridge. The rivers and valley areas were once a hive of industry but now little remains. There are fascinating places to visit and learn about the traditional skills and the lives of the local people.
The picturesque village of Bradfield is sited in an area of stunning countryside which is very popular with walkers. The gentle hills and numerous marked footpaths around the village offer walks of varying difficulty, suitable for all abilities.
