Ruined abbeys, cathedrals, castles and stately homes are often accompanied by impressive scenery and grounds that have been maintained for centuries.

The region boasts a selection of museums, galleries and sculpture parks that cover everything from regional history to contemporary art. Some of these places are particularly appealing to young people and cater for family groups like Magna, a huge science museum in South Yorkshire. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is a unique attraction that is spread over 500 acres and located between Leeds and Sheffield.

Yorkshire also has a number of family theme parks for adrenaline junkies including; Lightwater Valley, Flamingo Land and the more unconventional 'Diggerland'.
