Yorkshire Food and Drink Guide

The most famous of all Yorkshire foods of course is the good old 'Yorkshire Pudding', which is traditionally eaten on a Sunday served with meat such as beef or lamb, roast potatoes and a selection of vegetables. There are many great country pubs and restaurants where you will be happily served a delicious traditional Sunday roast and this is well recommended during your visit. There are of course many other famous foods and drinks associated with Yorkshire including; curd tarts, ginger beer, Thornton’s chocolates, Wensleydale cheese (made even more famous by the loveable Wallace & Gromit), pikelets and for the beer connoisseur there is the John Smiths Brewery in Tadcaster, and the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham with their associated beers being served commonly around Yorkshire.

However this is only scratching the surface! Due to Yorkshires vast size and varied culture there are many different varieties of food on offer including Italian, Chinese, Lebanese, Mexican & Indian to name but a few. By far the most popular of these has to be Indian and due to the historic links between Britain and Indian you are unlikely to find much difference between a curry prepared and served in Leeds, Sheffield or Bradford to that of one served in Mumbai!
